General Election Campaign - Funding for Disability

Funding for vital disability services is in crisis. It’s really important that we do what we can to ensure that all candidates are aware of what we are looking for from the next Government. They may not hear it otherwise. We don’t know who will be in the next Government, but the TDs who will be elected from your constituency may have a role in forming the next Government, so now is the time to engage with them.

Disability services are desperately underfunded. We need the next government to address this urgently. We are asking you to email your candidates to ask them to commit to three key things to secure the future of disability services in Ireland.

We are asking for:

1. An extra €20m to cover the urgent shortfall in funding currently faced by the sector

2. A complete reform of how HSE budgets for the sector are agreed. 

3. Ensure that the workers who run our services are paid the same as HSE workers for doing the same job
